Peptone is obtained by controlled enzymatic hydrolysis of porcine intestinal mucosa from pharmaceutical facilities. The raw material, porcine intestinal mucosa, is obtained from USDA inspected and passed porcine animals at single species porcine plants domestically (US only). After the mucosa has been hydrolyzed, the peptone is concentrated to 50% solids into a shelf stable concentrate.
